François Sagat: The Man Behind the Mask | Part 1
François Sagat is hot ! From virtually unknown he became one of the most recognizable faces in the international gay porn movie business. Thanks to his remarkable looks, and thanks to his outstanding performance, he hovers over the industry like the Eiffel Tower over Paris. No wonder we were quite nervous when François agreed to meet us at our home. We live in a classic 150-years old Parisian building, in the center of Paris, on the fifth floor, without elevator. A fact we kind of forgot to mention to François.
When he arrived and we opened the door for him, we were in for a nice surprise. Instead of the giant with the rough image that we expected, we found a very casual guy in our hallway, 1,75 (5"9) tall, with a smile that went from ear to ear, and a sweaty, well muscled body. Because even for the fittest guy, the challenge of climbing 104 steps on a sunny Sunday afternoon is not an easy one. And this of course triggered our curiosity. If his first appearance already gives such a different image from what the media shows us, what else is hiding behind that intriguing face…
François Sagat was born and raised in the middle of France. Logically that we were curious to hear how a boy from that area ended up becoming a successful international porn actor.
François : It happened really fast...I was born in Cognac and left this little city to go to Paris when I was 18 years old. At that age, I was still a virgin boy,but I already knew a lot of things about sex...I often watched straight porn movies and I saw a few gay movies at the age of 17, on a private french TV channel. It made me pretty horny, but I had no idea I would be capable to do porn in the future myself.
At the age of 20 – 21, I tried something with some bad french companies, which didn’t give me very good experiences, so I decided at the last moment to cancel everything. Eventually, at 25, I felt I was ready to do something else in porn. At the same time somebody contacted me by the Internet to do porn. It was a french "tough guys" company named 'Citebeur' - really hot. I did my first scene a few weeks later and it went so well that they put me on the cover of the DVD. It was a real success, which resulted in me going to the USA 6 months later on invitation of Raging Stallion’s Chris Ward and shot my first scene for 'Arabesque'...
If I 'm successful now it's probably because people can notice me more easily because of this big detail: my scalp tattoo. But I hope it's not only for that. I did it 3 years ago and not on purpose, not to be a freak. I think 50% of the people don't mind and 50 % find it, and me, ridiculous.
Can you tell us about your first experience in porn?
François : For my first scene, I had a really good chemistry with my partner. He was really hot and straight looking. He was also nice and sweet and really tough and like a real man at the same time. It’s a good memory and people in France and abroad love that scene. Me too. It was in my first french movie 'Relax Man' from Citebeur. A good movie with a lot of Arabic guys.
What is your best memory?
François : Actually I never really had ‘the amazing scene with the amazing guy’. I’m not really satisfied with the different shootings I did. I would say it’s ok, it’s fine. But I found a lot more sexier boys in my private life. More than the companies found for me. It’s really hard to get a good and intense sex relation in a movie. A lot of the men in the porn industry are just queens or princesses. Not very interesting. Now maybe I am like that too, but I try to be the more simple as I can. So my best memories are in general the french work I did...not the movies I shot in the USA. But I’m waiting for the next project and I’m still a big admirer of some US porn actors that I met personally and with whom I hope to work with one day because they're really HOT.
And your worst?
François: When a supposed porn’star’ was there, on the set, to try to direct something, saying bullshit every other 2 minutes... It's not the ‘worst’ thing in particular, but not a good memory either. Generally, the worst thing I had to deal with is when my partner is feminine, and I have to keep the hard on. That is really complicated. Also, sometimes I had partners who go to fast into the penetration when I’m playing the bottom. It hurts and some sex partners don’t really listen to you and your pain. Believe it or not but my ass hole is really tight, even though some think the opposite. They probably think because I'm the bottom in the movie, that my ass is like a tunnel and that’s wrong.

An interesting interview this is a sound guy he seems down to earth and honest friendly and genuine. Make a real change from the conceited famous but is this the real guy we are reading about or the nice side of the porn star?
One thing I do find I can empathize with is the being hurt by a guy who does not listen when he's penetrating. It's not like throwing a sausage up an alley you know. It's far more sensual if you take it slow to begin with and then get down and rough once your in your comfort zone, if you know what I mean. Please pass on my best wishes to Francous.
