Joseph & Joe - Part 2
Joseph Sayers is a man who hardly needs any introduction. And neither is photographer Joe Oppedisano. Joe called Joseph once his 'muse,' and it is obvious the two artists know each other well. Some of the photos used for this interview are from Joe's older shootings with Joseph, but most of them were done only last month, specially for the special edition of French gay lifestyle magazine PREF, in honor of its 2 years anniversary. These particular photos were shot in the elevator shaft of Joe's building in New York City, and together with the 'older' work they form a nice retrospective of Joe's cooperation with Joseph this far, and the perfect decor for the Joseph Sayers Interview, of which you can read part 2 underneath.
We heard you are taking acting classes. What is your ambition in this?
Joseph: Honestly, I'm in college. Acting has been an issue that occasionally pops up, but I'll go where it takes me. It's a challenge and a love a challenge, but it's not my number one priority. As far as ambition, I've always wanted to play a DC Comics or Marvel Comics superhero. DC Comics is the comic book company that founded such characters as Batman, Superman, Aquaman, The Flash, etc. It is disappointing that all of the good roles have been taken. Tom Welling and Brandon Roth (Christopher Reeves and Dean Cain among others) as Superman, Michael Keaton, Christain Bail, Val Kilmner, George Clooney as Batman, Tobey Maquire as Spiderman and blah blah blah. I would have to identity myself with characters such as Wolverine and The Hulk. The "underdogs". They are mild-manner until their temper breaks and they progress from a force into a force to be reckoned with. One of my favorite characters is Angel/Archangel from X-Men. He has virtually no special super powers, BUT he is courageous and fearless. I actually auditioned for this role in X-Men III. I obviously didn't get it, but I'd have to say THAT would've been my dream role.
Which actor and actress do you admire, and why?
Joseph: This is probably the toughest question. There are so many but I'll just give you a few. Bruce Willis. Not only have I met him and hung out with him, so I know how cool and relaxed he is, I really like his relaxed, "minimal expression with maximum impact" style. Brad Pitt. We've all seen FIGHT CLUB, but I respect him for his crazier roles, like in 12 MONKEYS. Joaquin Phoenix. He is in my opinion one of the most diversely capable actors out there. There a few more, but those are upon the top of the top.
Would you consider doing a role like Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger played in Brokeback Mountain, and if so, who would you choose to be your acting partner?
Joseph: I haven't seen that movie yet. I don't watch very many movies outside of my personal movie collection. I'm a Biology Major, so school and labs are pretty much the extent of my life, so I'm behind in movie knowledge. But, would I play a role like as in BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN? Yes, I would play a role like that. As for a partner, I can't answer. You obviously wouldn't want to work with someone that is too close to you, as it would be uncomfortable, and you wouldn't want to work with someone who is a complete stranger, as it would be unfamiliar. So I guess I'd work with whomever is cast parallel to me.

Joseph is super H-O-T!!!
By the way, I love your blog, and the interview you had with BGB.
My friend stayed at your B&B last Summer (I stayed near Hotel-de-ville), and he said you guys REALLY did dressed in underwear and watered your plants on the balcony.
Next time I'm in Paris, I'm definitely going to stay with you guys! :-) Cheers!
